About

Welcome to New the Concord School Board’s Elementary Facilities Project Website!

Since 2003, the Concord School Board has been working on a plan to reorganize the elementary school facilities due to declining enrollment, educational programming, inequities amongst facilities, code compliance and aging facilities. Over the years there have been numerous public meetings, community task forces, media events, and professional studies that have led to the creation of the Elementary Facilities Plan. (also see History Timeline )

In 2009, the board hired the design firm HMFH Architects. For the past year, board members, administrators, teachers, parents, and community members have spent numerous hours with HMFH to design the three new elementary schools.

In December 2010, after an extensive interview and public bid process, the Concord School Board hired Harvey Construction build the three new elementary schools.

Next month, construction will begin at all three sites on the new Abbot-Downing Elementary School (Conant School site), Mill Brook Primary School (adjacent to Broken Ground), and Christa McAuliffe Elementary School (Kimball School site). The Concord School Board has created this new site to keep the Concord community informed of the construction progress and management of the financing.
Over the years, many school board members, administrators, teachers, parents and community members have volunteered many hours of their time on this project. We are currently in the beginning stages of finally seeing all the hard work turned into reality. We hope that you find this site informative and we encourage everyone to get involved. This is an exciting time in Concord. The buildings we build today will educate Concord children for the next 75-100 years. We hope that you find this site informative and we strongly encourage your feedback!

Sincerely,

THE CONCORD SCHOOL BOARD
